Dechert LLP has partnered with LCD to provide volunteer attorneys to take pro bono planning document cases from the Hahnemann MLP. Staff Attorney Tomas Bednar ran a 2-hour training with volunteer attorneys from Dechert LLP on an introduction to Medical-Legal Partnerships and on Execution of Advance Planning Documents.
Tomas highlights how important it is for cancer patients to consider drafting advanced planning documents such as powers of attorney and healthcare powers of attorney. The symptoms caused by cancer as well as those experienced from its treatment can seriously undermine a patient's ability to make their own decisions and plan for the future. Tomas explains how advanced planning documents can mitigate the impact that these symptoms can have on a patient's planning and allow for peace of mind in an otherwise trying time.
